This exciting development further shows that the popularity of modern audio drama continues to grow at a steady rate. It looks like iTunes’ intention here is to showcase a selection of what they consider to be “the best of the best” in the medium. I think the community will welcome and celebrate this development, though I still think there needs to be some clarity on the accessibility of the group. If iTunes are listening to shows to decide if they are good enough to be included, are they sure to find everyone? Given that existing categories are designed for podcasts and not audio dramas (e.g. “Arts & Entertainment). A better idea might be to put out quarterly requests for producers to submit their shows for consideration. Better surely to at least know you’ve been turned down than never discovered in the first place?
